The Van Buren County Community School District is located in Southeast Iowa, serving students in Van Buren County, as well as portions of Henry, Lee and Davis Counties. Due to higher enrollment at their middle and high school located in Keosauqua, the district is undertaking an expansion and renovation project to bring much needed amenities to both students and staff.
They will soon begin construction on a project that will include a 225-seat gymnasium, 20,000 square foot mezzanine, wrestling room, weight room and two new classrooms. Construction is expected to begin in 2022, with completion in time for the start of the 2023 school year.
Northeast Power supported this project with a $360,000 loan through the USDA REDL&G program, while partnering with Access Energy and Southern Iowa Electric who provided a $240,000 and $400,000 loan from each of their RLF funds, respectively.
