Mark Bottoms Line Rebuild
Northeast Power has identified a need to upgrade transmission infrastructure in the area by rebuilding portions of existing lines within the Mark Bottoms, north of Palmyra. One 161 kV line runs from Northeast Power’s South River 161 kV Substation, east of Palmyra to the Palmyra 345 Substation, northeast of Palmyra. The second 161 kV transmission line runs from Northeast Power’s South River 161 kV Substation to the Emerson Substation, near Emerson. The 69kV line runs from Northeast Power’s 69 kV South River Switch Station to the Taylor Substation, near Taylor.
About the Project
By relocating and co-locating lines on shared corridors, this rebuild project will increase reliability during flooding events and help meet the long-term needs of our electric cooperative members and communities.
This project will consist of reconstructing approximately 10.9 miles of 161 kV transmission line and 6.8 miles of 69 kV transmission line within the Mark Bottoms and adjacent uplands. Single circuit and parallel double circuit configurations supported on steel monopole and steel or wood h-structures will be used for construction. Most of the conductor will be replaced with larger conductor.
